How to swap USDT to Monero: quick overview
The whole swap takes five steps and one signature:
Install a Monero wallet and copy a new receiving address.
Open the Symbiosis app, pick USDT on Tron for the “From” side and XMR on Monero for the “To” side.
Enter the amount and check the quote: XMR to receive, fee and estimated time.
Connect a Tron wallet such as TronLink and paste your Monero address.
Sign one transaction. XMR reaches your wallet in about 5–10 minutes and can be spent after 10 Monero confirmations, about 20 minutes later.
What “privately” means in a USDT to XMR swap
Swapping USDT for XMR hides nothing that already happened. The USDT transfer stays on Tron, and the swap service keeps its own record of the swap. What changes is what an outside observer can follow next: on Tron anyone can trace USDT from wallet to wallet, while on Monero the sender, the receiver and the amount of every transaction are hidden by default, using stealth addresses, ring signatures and RingCT (getmonero.org).
So the privacy you gain is privacy from the public ledger, not from the service you swap with. Anyone who already knows your Tron address, such as an exchange that paid USDT out to it, can see that address send USDT to the swap; what they cannot follow is where the XMR goes afterwards.
What an observer sees
On Tron, a USDT deposit is fully readable on any block explorer: the sending address, the receiving address, the amount, the time and the network fee. On Monero, an explorer shows a payout as a transaction whose outputs carry no readable amounts, only a question mark for each, and whose input is signed as one of 16 possible ring members. Only the receiving wallet, with its private view key, can pick out its output and read the amount.
What you need before you start
The network your USDT sits on decides the wallet and the gas token. The last two columns show swaps of USDT into XMR on Symbiosis over the 90 days to 15 October 2026:
USDT network | Wallet that sends it | Gas token | Swaps into XMR | Median time |
Tron (TRC-20) | TronLink | TRX | 51 | 5 min 51 s |
BNB Chain (BEP-20) | MetaMask, Trust Wallet | BNB | 25 | 4 min 46 s |
Ethereum (ERC-20) | MetaMask or another EVM wallet | ETH | 18 | 4 min 19 s |
Arbitrum One | MetaMask or another EVM wallet | ETH | 4 | 3 min 41 s |
A Monero wallet. Cake Wallet (phone and desktop) and Feather (desktop) are ready in minutes; Monerujo runs on Android; the official Monero GUI is most private with its own node, but the first sync takes hours. A Monero address has 95 characters and starts with 4, or with 8 for a subaddress; Symbiosis takes both, and 201 of its 278 payouts into XMR in 90 days went to subaddresses.
At least about 20 USDT, plus TRX for gas. Smaller amounts do not cover network fees, and a USDT transfer on Tron burns up to about 13 TRX when your wallet has no staked energy, whatever the amount.
The right network. Use the one your USDT is already on, because moving it first costs another fee. Tron is the most common start, while USDT from Ethereum and BNB Chain arrived faster at the median.
Step-by-step: USDT on Tron to XMR on Symbiosis
The Symbiosis app shows the route before you connect a wallet, and on the Tron route you approve the transfer in your wallet without copying a deposit address. We quoted 500 USDT on 16 October 2026 at 03:17 UTC:

Pick the pair. Set USDT on Tron in the “From” field and XMR on Monero in the “To” field. The rate appears before you connect anything.
Enter the amount. For 500 USDT the app quoted 0.875344 XMR, worth $492.45 at its price, and about 7 minutes. The cost of the swap, about 1.5% here, is already inside the rate; the $0.37 next to the fuel icon is the app’s gas estimate, not the total. The quote also equals the minimum you receive.
Connect your Tron wallet and add the Monero address. TronLink or another Tron wallet sends the USDT, and XMR goes to the Monero address you paste into the app. No email, password or ID.
Sign one transaction. The wallet asks you to approve the USDT transfer and pay the Tron network fee.
Wait for XMR. Over the 90 days to 15 October 2026, swaps of USDT on Tron into XMR on Symbiosis reached a Monero block 5 min 51 s after the Tron transaction at the median, and nine in ten within 10 min 39 s. Your wallet shows the payment soon after, but Monero lets you spend it only after 10 confirmations, about 20 minutes. You can follow the swap in the app.
Depending on the route, a swap may use Symbiosis infrastructure together with external liquidity sources, such as DEXs, pools, aggregators, or partner protocols. For rates from other networks, see USDT to XMR and the Monero (XMR) exchange page.
How the same 500 USDT priced elsewhere
Instant exchanges are the main alternative, and we built the same 500 USDT route on two of them within three minutes of the Symbiosis quote.

FixedFloat, an instant exchange without accounts, guaranteed 0.876818 XMR at a fixed rate and estimated ≈0.88125 XMR at a floating rate. You send USDT to a deposit address it creates for the order, and it pays XMR to your Monero address.

Trocador listed 21 exchanges for the same amount: from 0.87984 XMR at CCECash to 0.85110 XMR at SimpleSwap, with ChangeNOW at 0.85896. The spread was 3.3%, against 2.7% for 1,000 USDT in our other test: a few exchanges price small orders much worse. Trocador’s privacy letter changes the ranking: CCECash, with the best rate, is rated B and FixedFloat C, while the four A-rated offers, from ETZ, Pegasusswap, Swapuz and Exolix, paid 0.4–1.4% less XMR.
Service | XMR for 500 USDT | Rate type | Account | Delivery time |
Symbiosis | 0.875344 | Quoted, equals the minimum | No | 5 min 51 s (measured median) |
FixedFloat | 0.876818 | Fixed | No | 8 min (ETA on Trocador) |
FixedFloat | ≈0.88125 | Floating | No | 8 min (ETA on Trocador) |
CCECash via Trocador | ≈0.87984 | Floating | No | 8 min (ETA) |
SimpleSwap via Trocador | ≈0.85110 | Floating | No | 8 min (ETA) |
Symbiosis led on the two things the table cannot show. Its time is a measured median rather than an estimate, and even its own on-screen estimate, about 7 minutes, was below every ETA on Trocador. It was also the only service in this comparison without a manual deposit: the app builds the transfer for you to approve in your wallet instead of giving you an address to copy. On the rate it was 0.17% below FixedFloat’s fixed quote and 2.8% above the lowest floating estimate.
If you need USDT on the other side: Private Swap & Send
If you want USDT on another network rather than XMR, the Symbiosis app has a second mode, Private Swap & Send.

For 1,000 USDT from Tron to Ethereum, it quoted ≈991.33 USDT back, about 0.9% less than you send, with a $1.03 gas line and about 30 minutes; the route card reads Send from Tron → Private → Receive on Ethereum. Private Swap is a swap mode for routes that may use privacy-oriented assets, centralized providers, or semi-centralized providers. It provides an additional layer of route privacy, but it does not make the swap fully anonymous.
Common mistakes to avoid
Five mistakes that cost money or privacy:
Swapping from the address your exchange paid out to. The exchange knows that address is yours, and the Tron ledger shows the same address sending USDT to the swap. Waiting does not break that link; it is permanent.
Giving the same Monero address to several services. On-chain it changes nothing, because every payment lands at a different one-time address. Off-chain it does: services that know the same address can match their records, so give each one its own subaddress.
Picking the wrong USDT network. USDT on Tron and USDT on Ethereum are different tokens on different chains; choose the network your USDT is on.
Running out of TRX. A USDT transfer on Tron uses energy and bandwidth, and the network burns TRX when your wallet has not staked any; without TRX the wallet cannot send USDT. Without staked energy, one USDT transfer can burn up to about 13 TRX.
Sending the exact payout straight to a KYC exchange. Monero hides the amount on-chain, but the swap service knows it, and a deposit of the same amount an hour later lets the two records be matched. Spend or split the coins in your own wallet first.
Security checks
Type app.symbiosis.finance yourself and bookmark it: fake swap sites copy the design, and Symbiosis never asks for a seed phrase. After pasting the Monero address, compare its first and last characters with your wallet. For a first swap, send 20–50 USDT: the Tron fee does not depend on the amount, so a test costs a few dollars.
USDT and Monero on Symbiosis in numbers
Symbiosis swap data for the 90 days to 15 October 2026:
98 swaps went from USDT into XMR, worth $606,000: 51 from Tron, 25 from BNB Chain, 18 from Ethereum and 4 from Arbitrum One. Every one was completed with a payout.
The median USDT swap from Tron was about 2,000 USDT, and 82% of those swaps finished within 10 minutes.
100 swaps went the other way, from XMR to USDT; the 57 that paid out on Tron took 8 min 39 s at the median.
This guide was produced by Symbiosis. Quotes were taken on 16 October 2026 between 03:17 and 03:20 UTC in a clean browser with no wallet connected, without executing swaps. Symbiosis times are measured for completed swaps, from the deposit transaction to the block with the payout; the other services’ times are their own ETAs. To swap back, see XMR to USDT; to compare other ways to get Monero, read where to buy Monero without KYC, and for every coin, the no-KYC crypto exchange page.
