Sei v2's parallelized EVM upgrade

The time has come for Sei v2 to launch publicly on mainnet! On 27th of May the new version of the protocol was successfully released, and it came with some amazing upgrades.

Sei v2 introduces the support of Parallelized EVM - a virtual machine that processes multiple independent transactions at the same time and activates the support for Ethereum smart contracts. This combination was powered thanks to the Optimistic Parallelization and Sei’s custom database (a.k.a. SeiDB).

One of the main features that Sei’s Interoperable EVM includes is the ability to transfer and deploy decentralized applications and smart contracts on Sei with no change to the existing variants on Ethereum mainnet.

These are just some of the reasons (and mostly, the technical ones) why Sei v2 was highly anticipated by the crypto community.

And more on our reasons to initiate the integration of Sei v2 Mainnet - right below.

Why does Symbiosis integrate Sei v2?

We continuously watch for the rapidly growing blockchain networks and evaluate their input to the cross-chain ecosystems. Here are some of the key factors that contributed to the prompt launch of Sei v2 in Symbiosis for swaps and exchanges:

  • Increasing the Availability of Supported Assets. Gladly, the blockchain world continues to grow and shape new horizons where new types of assets and tokens appear and get deployed on the chains. With Sei v2 and its EVM coming to the Symbiosis Protocol, we make cross-chain and on-chain bridge operations possible, fast and cheap.

  • Embracing the Parallelized EVM. As a cross-chain protocol, Symbiosis handles and processes thousands of on-chain activities. With the technology of Parallelization, the performed swap and bridge transactions on Sei v2 at Symbiosis would take very little time.

  • Vibrant Ecosystem. Since Sei Network includes the support of Cosmos and Ethereum technologies, there are numerous decentralized and financial applications that have been or are about to be deployed on Sei v2 Mainnet.

It’s important for us to work on real value and bring something that will serve users long and happy. Let’s break down the integration of Sei v2 into Symbiosis Protocol with the guide on how to swap and bridge tokens to Sei v2 on Mainnet.

Access Sei v2 mainnet at Symbiosis - swaps and bridge

If you read this Blog Post, it means that Sei is already available at Symbiosis! Users can access Sei v2 right in the Symbiosis WebApp - an application where all exchanges and other on-chain activities are performed.

One of the key features Symbiosis brings to the Sei ecosystem is the availability to exchange any kind of supported tokens from 27 blockchain networks and send them to Sei v2 with ease. There are numerous pairs we support to swap: ETH on various L2 - ETH on Sei v2, USDC - SEI, WBTC - SEI and many others!

Here’s a short guide on how to start using Sei v2 at Symbiosis:

  1. First, you need to visit Symbiosis WebApp;

  2. Choose Sei and supported tokens for exchange in From and To menus in the WebApp;

  3. State the amount of funds you would like to bridge between Sei and another network or swap across the protocol;

  4. Make sure to connect your wallet to the App to proceed with the swapping or bridging assets to Sei v2;

  5. Review the terms of the exchange - and if everything looks good, perform the transaction and confirm it in your wallet.

That would be it. Your balances should be updated any time soon after you initiated the exchange.

Let’s embrace Sei v2 and contribute to its growth together!

01

How do I bridge tokens to Sei v2 with Symbiosis?

Open the Symbiosis WebApp, pick Sei and the supported tokens in the From and To menus, enter the amount, connect your wallet, review the terms, and confirm the transaction. Balances update shortly after the swap is initiated.

02

When did Sei v2 mainnet launch?

Sei v2 mainnet was released publicly on May 27, 2024, bringing Parallelized EVM support and Ethereum smart contract compatibility to the network. Symbiosis activated Sei v2 inside its protocol shortly after the launch.

03

What is parallelized EVM on Sei v2?

Parallelized EVM is a virtual machine that processes multiple independent transactions at the same time while supporting Ethereum smart contracts. Sei v2 powers it through Optimistic Parallelization and a custom database called SeiDB.

04

Which networks can I swap from to reach Sei v2?

Symbiosis supports swaps and bridging across 27 EVM and non-EVM blockchains, and any of them can be used as a source to move funds onto Sei v2. Pairs include ETH on various L2s to ETH on Sei v2, USDC to SEI, and WBTC to SEI.

05

Can Ethereum dApps run on Sei v2 without changes?

Yes. Sei's Interoperable EVM lets developers transfer and deploy decentralized applications and smart contracts on Sei without changing the existing variants on Ethereum mainnet, which is one of Sei v2's main features.

06

What token pairs are available for Sei v2 on Symbiosis?

The article highlights ETH on various L2s to ETH on Sei v2, USDC to SEI, and WBTC to SEI, with many other supported pairs available in the WebApp. Any supported asset on the 27 connected networks can be routed to Sei v2.

07

Why did Symbiosis integrate Sei v2 so quickly?

Symbiosis cites three reasons: expanding the range of supported assets, embracing Parallelized EVM for faster swap and bridge transactions, and tapping a vibrant ecosystem that combines Cosmos and Ethereum technologies on Sei.

08

Do I need a separate wallet to use Sei v2?

No separate setup is described. You connect your existing wallet to the Symbiosis WebApp, select Sei v2 as the source or destination, and confirm the transaction to swap or bridge assets in one flow.
